Details
1996 Ford F800 Reefer Truck - Cummins 5.9L 12-Valve Diesel - Runs Great
1996 Ford F800 refrigerated box truck with the desirable Cummins 5.9L 12-valve diesel engine. Truck starts right up even after sitting for months and has been very reliable.
The reefer unit was reported to have a refrigerant leak by the previous owner. I have never used or fully tested the reefer system. It is equipped with a 3-phase electric standby motor.
The odometer shows approximately 375,000 miles, but the speedometer/odometer has an issue, so actual mileage is unknown.
I inherited the truck when my father passed away and used it primarily as a small mobile office. A 100-watt solar panel on the roof helps keep the batteries maintained.
Maintenance and repairs completed:
- Replaced serpentine belt
- Replaced air compressor head and regulator
- Replaced thermostats
- Replaced radiator expansion tank
- Diagnosed and repaired cooling system over-pressurization caused by the air compressor head
- Replaced some door locks
- New front shocks included (installation not completed; missing a few pieces)
Additional notes:
- Cab A/C is present but not currently functional
- Vacuum line to HVAC controls was disconnected due to a leak in the vacuum system
- Rear tires are in excellent condition and are slightly larger than stock commercial tires
- Front Michelin tires have excellent tread but show some age cracking
- Air ride driver's seat
- Fun truck to drive and would make a great delivery truck, storage truck, conversion project, or mobile workshop
Truck starts easily, runs well, and can be inspected in person.
Downsizing and no longer need it.
